A long time ago, I wrote a proposal for a project for the Intel Science and Engineering Fair. I wanted to analyze a video stream, interpret sign language, and transcribe it to words. It didn't quite work out for a number of reasons.
Last week I was standing in front of a device, and it displayed something like "Move to the left".
I did.
Then it said "Move forward".
I did.
Then it said "Raise your right hand above your head to play".
I did.
As it mimicked my every gesture on screen, without me requiring to wear special gloves a la Minority Report or markers (like in Motion capture), I played an amazing bowling game via actual gestures!
To the people who made Kinect, you rock!
