An experimenter's golden rule. Related of course to the equipment. Programmer's golden rule too --- when the OS won't clean up after you. Rollback to a previously known good state and try again. That's how you learn. No harm done to anything.
Sadly, I'm now doing (or about to do) things that can't be rolled back (atleast not without a neuralizer). I have no knowledge of what is going to happen, and my most effective learning tool --- experimentation --- cannot be used. Sigh. Wouldn't have minded if only I was involved, but what if collateral damage is feared?
So what approach is the best? quid pro quo? Do as the other does?
