Well, it's not exactly new, but I finally got a GPS that I can play around with. It's a used Magellan eXplorist 400 and it's working well. Features I like: Rugged and Waterproof, can save to an SD card, Odometer, Routes, Tracks (aka logging), Waypoints, etc. Here's the manual. Unfortunately it's not programmable :(
I've got tracking enabled and working, translating Magellan's proprietary files to GPS using GPSBabel, then viewing them using gpx-viewer. I even got geotagging (with gps-correlate) working with my camera!
I'm not sure I'll be able to load OSM maps onto this device, but I'll certainly be able to contribute!
