Committed

Everytime I read or hear about how some people are "committed", I crack up. There is an (old-school?) usage of committed in case you're wondering why. See (b) on Merriam-Webster. As far I as know, the closest term that accurately describes what these people want to say is "going steady", but maybe that's old-school now as well. Ah well.
